If you’re a creator, you’ll be happy to know that Instagram just announced new insights for Reels and Live.

Why should you rejoice? It’s simple: insights offer you access to data that will give you more power.

In free translation, you’ll have more power to understand your performance, create better content, and ultimately make the most of the monetisation features that Instagram offers. Ah, not to forget, you’ll have more leverage to negotiate more fruitful brand collaborations.

But what exactly are these new features, and how can you use them specifically? In this article, you’ll find out everything about the latest insights for Reels and Live and how to make the most of them.

What are the new insights for Reels and Live

Reels and TikTok have been going head to head ever since Instagram decided to challenge the Chinese concept with its own spin. However, TikTok had a visible advantage, offering creators more control over their statistics. In comparison, Instagram offered creators only publicly available metrics such as views, likes, or comments. Of course, these were not merely enough for professionals who aimed to grow a business.

Well, things have changed! Starting with the end of May 2021, you’ll be able to access new insights for Reels and Live. This will enable you to dive deeper into metrics that can bolster your business.

For example, for Reels, you’ll be able to see metrics such as the number of plays, Accounts Reached, Likes, Comments, Saves, and Shares.

For Live, you’ll have a better understanding of how your content is received by checking metrics such as Accounts Reached, Peak Concurrent Viewers, Comments, and Shares.

In the near future, Instagram plans to include these new metrics under the Accounts Insights umbrella to help creators understand how their Reels and Live Streamings shape their success.

With these new insights for Reels and Live, Instagram aims to be more transparent with creators by showing them exactly what types of accounts they’re reaching. Even more importantly, the insights will offer a better picture regarding the type of content and formats that drive the most engagement.

Where can you access the new insights for Reels and Live?

You can access the new insights for Reels and Live from either the Professional Dashboard introduced earlier this year or directly from your Business or Creator profile from the Settings menu.

To view the new metrics for Reels and Live, tap the hamburger menu at the bottom right of your profile and select Insights.

Here you’ll find the grouped data for the past 30 days, including metrics for posts, stories, IGTV, Reels, and Live.

If you’re interested in seeing how a specific Reel performed, go to your profile and open the Reel tab.

Open your desired Reel, tap the hamburger menu on the bottom right corner and select Insights.

How do these new insights change the monetisation game?

With the new insights for Reels and Live, professional creators will enjoy more convenience when putting together campaigns.

The extra data will help you analyse your traffic sources to better understand your performance. The result? You’ll have a clearer picture of your optimal target, and you’ll have the knowledge to reach new potential customers.

Essentially, there are three main areas are bound to improve with the advent of the new insights.

1. Increased target optimisation

The new insights will provide more data on the type of accounts that interact with specific Reels and Live videos. By unpacking this information, creators will refine their targeting based on past audiences, delivering content with razor-sharp precision.

“Additionally, we’re launching new detailed information about Reach in Account Insights. We know that understanding more about how content is being distributed is important, so we’ve built new breakdowns that provide transparency into which types of accounts you’re reaching and which content formats are the most effective at driving Reach.” said an Instagram press release.

2. Better reach, engagement and better monetisation

With better targeting also comes better monetisation. Knowing who your audience is will save you tons of trials and errors, enabling you to boost your engagement rates by delivering to the right people.

Of course, reach and engagement are the currency of Instagram, so these will shortly translate into revenue. If you’re looking for ways to supercharge your Instagram efforts, check out Instagram’s newest monetisation features for creators.
